Your “Must – master” Places and Strategy for doing Social in 9 hours a week
Posted on February 25, 2012 by @mqtodd
Here are some must do things during your 9 hour week on Social Media. Or any week for that matter!
First I recommend that you run Chrome.
Then add Buffer App, Pinterest, Tumblr and Add This to your Chrome toolbar.
Now I suggest that you make a Hootsuite account by going here and do the Hootsuite academy course to learn
how to run it.
Websites I would have open all day in addition to Hootsuite are Facebook, Klout, Stumble Upon, Empire
Avenue, Google+ and Scoopit.
Now you are in a position to become a curator and sharer of masses of content during your one hour online
from Monday to Friday and your 2 hours online during the weekend.
The next step after defining your niche is to choose 30 people who are either in your niche or in related niches.
Pick supportive, sharing people. Look at their social media profiles. Do they share on Facebook and Google+ ?
Do they retweet regularly on Twitter?
Do they have an active account on Empire Avenue? How is their Klout account? Do they have a balance of
influence across Twitter, Facebook and Google+ according to Klout? Is their graph showing a steady rise
over the past month?
Do you already have some sort of interacting relationship with at least 10 of them? I strongly advise you
have this 10. You may not eventually have these people in your 30 after say 3 months but you will need 10
to start with. Basically get the top 10 from your current friends who fit best the criteria I have laid out above.
To complete your own base and presence make a Xeeme and a Linked In profile. Change your bios and
profiles all over the social web to asking people to find all your social presences via Xeeme.
Join Triberr and get involved in Tribes in your niche. Use optimize in Triberr to find who is getting your blog posts shared most effectively. These will be key people for you.
Now start supporting and promoting these 30 key people and their content. Like crazy. Do not hold back.
Look at who they are interacting with and who is sharing their content.
In Hootsuite you can see who is mentioning and following them on Twitter. On Facebook and Google+ subscribe to and circle the people that they are interacting with. Start following their Twitter lists by using Tweetadder. Tweetadder is a massive timesaver.
A lot about what I am talking about here is saving time. Plus looking after your eyes of course…
(

Make an increasing amount of your own content in your niche. Blog posts using WordPress (as I am doing
now), screenshare videos of stuff you know about and add these to You Tube. Tweet and post
Facebook status updates about yourself but also about your content and other content in your niche
(preferably sourced from your 30 key people).
I have now mentioned a total of 15 different websites or web places.
Facebook
Pinterest
Tumblr
Twitter
You Tube
Wordpress
Stumble Upon
Google +
Triberr
Scoopit
Klout
Empire Avenue
Xeeme
Linked In
Tweetadder
OK. Become an expert about those 15 places.
Find out who the experts in them are and learn from them. While doing that share, share, share the content
you are learning. By doing this you will promote yourself as a growing expert and autority in all these places
to your circle of existing friends and followers whether they number 100 or 1000 or whatever.
You will also help to upskill those 100-1000 people and make them more effective supporters of you.
In about 2-3 months you will have a reasonable level of expertise in those 15 places after 6 months you will have mastered them.
Post a mix of fun content on all your social sites together wih content from your 30 key people and your own content.
Interact in a fun and friendly, intelligent and supportive way on the threads of your 30. Comment on their content anywhere you see it. Especially in the places they like best. If you are not sure what those are you will probably see it on their Empire Avenue or Klout pages or just ask! Gradually both they and their key collaborators will notice, then appreciate then be influenced by you to the point where they will become YOUR sharers and supporters.
This is not hard folks and can be done in 9 hours a week. Do it more and things will happen faster but with 9 well spent hours you can begin making significant headway.
Most of all have fun and be yourself. Everyone will love you for that.
