How Klout is fast becoming an influence for good

Always thinking, always innovating – Joe Fernandez and the folk at Klout are up to good.
Today is World Water Day and to celebrate Klout has teamed with the major water non-profit Charity Water to give you a chance to pledge your birthday to get donations instead of presents.
It is this kind of social media related initiative that gives hope for major effective transformation. Tens of millions go without drinking water each day and surely without increased connectivity this is something we can do something about.
You can share what they are doing and find the link to learn more here.
I get really excited when I see big social media related businesses teaming with causes like this and hope that your birthday will be a meaningful one this year. Not many companies bother to get involved like this but Klout probably realise something that others perhaps do not.
Never ever forget that while your friends may not comment or even click like on something your share (stats show that only around 1 in 1000 of those that see something do) your sharing does get seen and does make a difference. Tiny bit by tiny bit. Klout know this.
Klout is beginning to show that not only it measures influence but also is a major influence itself. Hopefully they will inspire other social media related companies to use their influence similarly. Imagine for example Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest teaming with a Charity to raise awareness and /or gather donations?
Lan Nguyen of Klout told me this……..
“We’re really excited to move Klout for Good in a new direction. By allowing Klout For Good to become its own initiative outside of Perks, we hope to emphasize a few key tenets we believe in: 1) Everyone has influence 2) With influence comes responsibility. We want to encourage as many users as possible to not only drive action online, but drive positive social change. You’ve got the Klout, now put it to good use!”
Klout is successful because it has listened hard and made changes to allow for privacy and transparency and regularly toys with new features and initiatives.
They have got it spot on here.
